CEC Webinar | Develop IEPs that Meet the Supreme Court’s Meaningful Progress Standard

Each quarterly webinar delivers exactly what special education teachers and administrators need to know to develop educationally meaningful and legally defensible IEPs consistently. Meeting the Endrew F. standard requires that IEP teams keep accurate progress monitoring data and develop appropriately ambitious and measurable goals for students receiving special education services.

This webinar aims to teach a four-step method for developing measurable, ambitious, and legally sound IEP goals that will help students progress. In this webinar, the presenter will:

Presented by: Mitchell Yell

Dr. Mitchell Yell earned his Ph.D. in Education Psychology from the University of Minnesota. He is currently the Fred and Francis Lester Palmetto Chair in Teacher Education at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Yell has extensive experience teaching students with mild disabilities using evidence-based practices, special education law, progress monitoring, IEP development, and classroom management. His primary area of research and writing is on IEP development, legal issues in special education, classroom management, progress monitoring, and evidence-based practices in special education. He also serves as a state review officer in South Carolina, where he reviews appeals of rulings by due process hearing officers and frequently serves as an expert witness in special education cases. Dr. Yell is a current Board of Directors member for the Council for Exceptional Children.
